A dangerously overweight trailer seen weaving from side to side on the A1 motorway is among the vehicles stopped during a recent joint operation with North Yorkshire Police and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
The trailer was displaying no number plate, had faulty lights, no breakaway cable attached and was found to be 55 per cent overweight, posing a serious risk to other road users.
The operation at the Boston Spa weighbridge was focusing on the safety of commercial vehicles. A total of 13 vehicles were stopped, with 10 requiring advice or further action for issues including dangerous loads, defective lights and no fire extinguisher when carrying Dangerous Goods.
These operations form part of our Vision Zero ambitions to help reduce fatal and serious injury collisions on our roads .
